ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is analyzing, finding meaning and clarifies goals and such. It's really required for Humanities class, especially on the subject of creative minds because there is no one specific definition for creativity so one has to think critically about the material, find meaning and to clarify what it means. Thinking critically can help make one into a better student in other courses because you don't just think about the surface value of the subject and create a greater understanding of the subject as a whole.
Critical thinking is thinking incredibly hard about the topic at hand. You have to think of every single aspect that goes with the subject, and what to do with it. It is required for the course because our class is a "creative mind" course which is all about critical thinking. You have to think outside of the box to succeed, so this class allows you to do so therefore making all your classes easier because you have an open mind.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is looking at a situations from all perspectives without having any pre-biases that would influence the way you think about situation. It is required for this course because it gives us the chance to experience new ideas and concepts with a better understanding of it. By thinking critically about the class material it will serve as a starting point for us to do so in our other classes as well.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is the mental process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer or conclusion. It is required for this class because in creative minds, there are many ways to look at different things and so it teaches you to analyze things thoroughly and try to see things from many different perspectives. Learning to think critically will make someone a better student because they will be more open to a wider range of possibilities instead of looking at a certain item in one perspective. The more perspective you have the easier it will be to understand other peoples points of views.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is self-guided, self-disciplined thinking which attempts to reason at the highest level of quality in a fair-minded way. People who think critically consistently attempt to live rationally, and reasonably. Thinking critically about the material in this class helps you think "outside the box" in other classes and helps alleviate making decisions based on egocentrism.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is like taking a piece of information and breaking it down so the meaning is easier to understand. For this class, it is a requirement to have a very good critical thinking because the class itself does not show an specific answer, meaning that the class as a whole or just the student itself have to come up with a meaning -a meaning that everyone agrees on-and of course this course will help every single person in this class to become a better student because i think that this class helps us to understand that even though the book gives a definition, we should think beyond what they're say because sometimes it is so much easier to have our own meaning because it tent to remain in our head easier than any complicated meaning from the book!
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking means going beyond just the simple question that is asked, and breaking it down, delving deeper into the "how" and the "why" aspects. For our class, we have to think critically for pretty much everything we do and work on because creativity takes critical thinking. The approach to creativity begins with a question or a problem, then we enter those stages of the creative process, entering our minds into that critical process.
ReplyDelete-Matt Diaz
Critical thinking can be done about really almost everything. All it is is taking a concept, idea or anything and realizing how it affects you, your society as a whole, or others. Critical thinking means that you are digging down to a deeper meaning, rather than just taking it for what it is and being done with it. By digging for the deeper meaning of a concept or idea you are better able to understand and memerize why it was so important and what effect it has as a whole. Being able to apply critical thiking in this course will help you to get used to using it in some of your harder courses...Who would have ever thought we'd have to use critical thinking in a "humanities-critical thinking" course!

ReplyDeleteif your able to critically think about somthing, then you have to go in depth on that topic. Therefore having to really understand the concept in order to build your own opinion. the way i see it is, critally thinking is the next step up, ya sure people may understand an idea and can could even explain it to others, but to critically think and analys it is a whole other level. it helps us use new parts of our brian in helping us discover new things in life.
this class will help students think outside of the box in other classes and even understand why certain things happen either for history, english and art classes.. it will make more sense.
To thunk critically is to see things below the surface. It means to apply the question before you to yourself and to break down each and every aspect of the question. This class requires that we think critically because we are required to analyze and apply the aspects of creativity to our lives as well as define and go beyond the boundaries of modern creativity. This will help ensure, in all of my classes, that I take each question or issue into careful consideration and come up with a profound answer, rather than a simple "yes, because..." or "no, because..."
ReplyDeleteNothing exists in a vacuum, unless it's dust or something. Anyways thinking critically will help you make connections. There is no point in learning about creativity if when class is over you forget the lessons. Thinking critically explores the gray area of opinions and motivation. There is no point taking a humanities class if you're not willing to explore the gray.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is to view situations in every way possible. There are obvious ways to solve a problem, but what if they are not the answer? One must think of something deeper than most people do. Once you are under the surface, there will be more ways to view a given situation. It is required in this course because even though there is no wrong answer, it is beneficial to contribute something new to the table. This could open a subject even more that what it started with. Critical thinking can help in other classes as well because it expands the way one thinks. Once you see things from different views, things become easier.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking isa process of conceptualizing, analyzing and evaluating information and everything that we already researched, observed and experienced. Critical thinkers tend to use their storage of knowledge to start setting purpose, questioning an issue and reasoning.Calling for persistent effort and ability, critical thinking is about self-corrective thinking.
ReplyDeleteThis course requires critical thinking because we need to understand and apply the knowledge and new concept about creativity, which people don't have any exact definition. Furthermore, it requires us to applying "creativity" in a reality by coming up with many new ideas.
Thinking critically about our class material helps my brain to improve and expand the way it works.
critical thinking is to analyze and evaluate what you learn. To not just state the obvious about various things, but to look into it deeply and state what is hidden. It's like in sociology. You aren't just studying how groups behave. You ask questions about why people behave that way and such.
ReplyDeleteI think critical thinking will help in all classes because it helps you expand your mindset. It makes you think harder about the not so obvious things. You become more open minded and question almost everything that is handed to you. The more you think critically, the more you are to ask questions and discover "hidden" facts about the world, yourself, subjects in class. It helps improve your brain mass as well which I think no one will complain about.
If you really don't know what you are doing, you either follow others and do what they tell you or you totally get lost.
ReplyDeleteCritical Thinking is really important because it is about thinking and this brain had given us to use. What ever we do if we question "why I am doing this, what is my purpose, what is the best way doing this" we be much more successful in life. Obviously people who know what they are doing are stronger than the rest of the people, they are the ones who lead.
Critical thinking also help people invent, discover, do things easier. For example, when you are doing something if you think, "Why I am doing this? Is there a faster way to do this?" You can find a way to do it faster, maybe you can invent a machine which can help you do the task easier. Like vending machines, I am sure someone though, "what I want is to sell drinks, what I don't want is to stand here and wait people to purchase drink", so s/he invented a machine....
I guess all these pretty much explain why critical thinking is important.

ReplyDeleteCritical thinking involves determinING the meaning and significance of what is being observed. Critical thinking consists of a mental process of analyzing or evaluating information, particularly statements or propositions that people have offered as true. It gets you to think about the meaning of statements, examining the offered evidence and reasoning, and forming judgments about the facts. Critical thinking is required for this course because it causes you to actually think about the question being asked or the statement being given. Instead of memorizing facts, critical thinking causes you to actually ask yourself "why?", and helps you to understand things and why it affects the people around you. Thinking critically about the material you are learning in all your courses will make you a better student because instead of just somewhat "accepting" the information being taught to you, you actually think about "why" the statement is true. Thinking critically will give you a much better grasp and understanding of the material being taught.

Critical thinking is analyzing information to get a better understanding of what it all means. Also critical thinking allows you to evaluate information rather than just making a simple assumption, which is why i believe its needed for this course. This is a course about creativity and its an idea that needs to be thought of and analyzed because everyone views it differently. Also it will make me a better student because it will allow me to question other topics and expand my ideas to get a better understanding of what im being taught.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is thinking of a situation and expressing your thoughts and saying what you have to say it either can be good or bad. Critical thinking is required in this class because for everything we talk about we have to ask why something happened or why it happened so we always have to ask why. Critical thinking will help me in this class because before I say something or write something I'm always going to ask myself why and that will make me a better student because I get to think about it before I discuss it.

Critical thinking is when you take a situation ,question, thought, or problem, and think about different solutions or apply it to your life in a way that makes you see it in various perspectives. This course is about the "creative mind" and in order for someone to be creative they need to see things in various perspectives. To think critically about our class material will help me remember things better by applying it to myself and how many ways a problem can be solved and how questions can be answered.
ReplyDelete-Karla Loera
There is no word for word definition for critical thinking. Instead, i feel like its a process people go through when a problem approaches him or her. Critical thinking emphasizes on the "why". It forces people to question the things they hear or see and not take everything for granted. For example, students don't always have to agree with what the teacher is saying. Everyone has different opinions. Critical thinking is important for this class because it teaches us to have our own thoughts about different topics. And if we can develop our own thoughts and somehow connect it with other people's thoughts, it will allow us to better understand the topic at hand.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is thinking outside of the box. Looking past the surface meaning to look for the deeper meaning. Critical thinking is important in this class because we talk about Greek thought and they requires you to look in depth and try to look at things with a differnet perspective. Looking at topics with a differnet perspective helps you understand the material a lot better. Once you can start using the information and applying it to your life it's easy to understand difficult concepts.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cody, critical thinking is when you think outside of the box. It's about viewing something in a way that you not only see something physically, but you question how it got there and how it can relate to you. You have to delve deeper into something, instead of just taking it for what it is. It's all about taking something & continuously questioning it. Critical thinking will help me in this course because of the fact that philosophy can be viewed in many different ways from many different perspectives, so we are bound to have our own opinions on something. All of us might not agree with the ways something is viewed, which is critical thinking, because we are thinking about different ways that subject can be addressed. Critical thinking is important in this course because it's opinion-based, not just taking what the book says and agreeing with it fully. It's also easier to think critically because then it makes it easier for me to remember major ideas covered in class, if I apply them to myself personally.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is analying a situation with depper insight. Its thinking outside the box. For example if we look at a picture we only see what is given but with our mind we analyze more than what is in the picture. Also it is to question something you agree or disagree with. Since we all have different minds we chose what to believe in due to our critical thinking. I think critical thinking is important in this course because we dont eactly have to agree with what the teacher is saying. We can argue for or against it using our critical thining skills. It will make us better because we expose our brains to more information. We arent limited to what we know. critical thining increases our brains capacity.
ReplyDeleteJESUS VENEGAS
Critical thinking has to do with analyzing, knowing exactly what you are talking about and being able to give specific reasons and details about the topic at hand.
ReplyDeleteThe name of the course states what is going to be done in the class, "crtitical thinking". In order to understand what is going to be taught and discussed in the course you would have to think more logically and really focus and the topic at hand. Because if not then you wont really understand what is being taught and you will fail.
Being that we are forced to think critically it eventually rubs off on you and tend to stick with you throughout the rest of your classes and also in daily conversations and other interactions outside of school
-JAMAL CLARK
Critical thinking is basically going deeper into the question asked or problem that occurred. i also see it as thinking outside the box sometimes. that gets me a good answer. it is required for the course because this class has no specific answer. The answers vary based on your opinion. Thinking critically will help us in other classes because it exercises the our minds and helps us to look at things in different perspectives.
ReplyDelete-Roy Talactac
Critical thinking,it has been described as "purposeful reflective judgment concerning what to believe or what to do. Critical thinking can be many analysis; goals, examines assumptions, evaluates evidence, accomplishes actions, discerns hidden values, and assesses conclusions.Critical is used in the expression. The critical think make you think and brainstorm. it makes you focus on one thing. It will make you better at understanding tough question and it also improve your skills at any courses you take.
ReplyDeleteTo think critically is to see every aspect of a problem. No matter what problem it maybe, whether its math or science or a humanities class such as this, thinking critically can help in a great way. By thinking critically we can see past the "assumed" answer and think of a "new" answer to the problem, one that many may not of have thought of. Through this we can see and create many different ways to tackle many problems.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is a way of thinking deeper, to analyze and reflect on subjects. Critical thinking is required for this class because we have to learn about subjects and people and conclude on why things are the way they are. We critically think about creativity and where it began, came from, and how it is expressed. By critically thinking we expand our mind and can expand our creativity.
ReplyDelete-tina kha
Critical thinking is a way of further understanding and analyzing the topic at hand. Its just a form of thought that helps us to better absorb the material we are learning through our own opinions. Instead of just memorizing a passage from our books or articles we get to develop our own theories. This is importment in our class and studies because it helps us to become more independent thinkers. It really helps us to sit down and think about the material we have learned and be able to translate it on our own. This will help us in our other courses in school because we'll be better prepared mentaly. It basically helps us to further expand our knowledge and thinking capabilities=)
ReplyDeleteCritically thinking is seeing a problem and solving it. There are many things in this world that needs to be to be solved and we need creative people to solve those problems. Critical thinking makes you brainstorm and we need to brainstorm to understand tough problems and improve our way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteThere is no other way of explaining critical thinking besides trying to further viewing, understanding, and analyzing the topic that you are trying to understand a subject. We definitely need critical thinking in this course due to the fact that we all do not agree on most subjects and we will critical think on more ways that this subject is wrong or right. Critical thinking will make me a better student by not just looking at the obvious but looking beyond it.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is to have an in-depth analyzation of a certain topic/subject, whatever it may be. Rather than looking at something, like a question, from one perspective, critical thinking would incorporate the different perspectives possible; analyzing it completely. It is important to know what critical thinking is for this course because it would allow us to understand the reasons why a person is considered creative, or not. Creativity needs critical thinking.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is the judgment, the evaluation, the clarification, about everything and anything you do. It is about going into depth of "your" answers, "your" responses, "your" reaction, and "your" opinions. Critical thinking isn't an actual answer you can just find off from, it's a form of thought. It's important for a Creative Mind class, and in any class because it helps you to understand, and develop clever and creative responses. It helps you think outside of the box, and to think differently from people. Critical thinking makes you use your mind, your brain, not your memory. It doesn't have to always deal with being just answers, but it can also be questions, for instance you answer a question you were given, another question can be brought up because of that one answer, so you give a different response, yet another question is brought up, and so on. It's like a debate, but it can be endless.
ReplyDeleteDo you believe that a "thought" can be limited? That "your mind" can be limited or is it endless?
Critical thinking is digging deeper. without critical thinking everything would be similar and have no individuality. everything would be obvious. Critical thinking helps you realize true meanings and allows you to think outside the norm. It is required for this course because it helps you really analyze life and academia. without it, we would be like robots and have same answers. it makes me better because it opens up my mind to other options on tests, helps me think about questions the professor asks, and helps me put my opinion out there because if its your thoughts you cant be wrong.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is taking a deeper look. It involves not just reading but annotating as well. It requires one to think of the bigger picture and really analyze the situation from different points of view. Critical thinking is essential for this course because it expand your imagination and increase your mental analization. It allows for in depth disscusions and encourages the student to really disect the matter at hand. Well this critical thinking process will allow us to receive better grades as we relate our questions and comments in this class to our lives, while using common sense. The critical thinking which is done will allow us to excel in all our courses and expand our horizon of possiblities by looking at the bigger picture. We need to detail oriented and not only swimmer skimming the surface, but scuba diver in penetrating the ocean, of our mental capacity.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is when you think of solutions to a problem. It's also like thinking outside of the box.it's looking past the big picture. It is required for this class because it is getting us prepared for the real world. It's helping us be more open minded to what's to come. Critical thinking will help us in other classes because it helps us open to other ideas. It also get's us to not just assume but to ask why or how.
ReplyDelete--Mark Eroles
critical thinking is the process of not just listening to something , but also understanding the concept of it by thinking about the "why's" , "what if's" , etc , etc . without thinking critically , creativity would not exist . if we didn't question anything , we would never achieve anything . thinking critically would make you a better student because you wouldn't only know what "this" & "that" is , but also the process behind it .
ReplyDeletecarolyn dinh
Before one excepts what another says, before you can completely agree with what one reads or see's on TV, one must ask themselves what, when, how, when, and why. When opposed with a question, before spitting out the easiest answer, think deeper into what's really going on. There is a lot of people trying to get over you in the world and one must be prepared to analyze the situation and be able to cipher out true intentions. Thinking critically is not only required in this class but in everyday life. It will make us better students because learning how to use your brain to max potential helps get good grades.
ReplyDeleteKyle Smith
Critical thinking is the process of analyzing finding meaning and evaluating information inorder to come up with a conclusion. Critical thinking is required for this class because creative minds is all about critical thinking. One has to realise there is a problem, come up with different ways of solving the problem, select the best solution for the problem, elaborate and then implement the problem. All the stages of creativity require critical thinking. Thinking critically will make me a better person because, I will be able to analyze and evaluate my information in order to come up with my best conclusion .gillian kpodjie
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is using the complex brain that we have all been born with to think beyond the norm. The brain also allows us to analyze information, think things through, and evaluating and see things from a different perspective. Thinking critically gives us a lot of space to be creative as well.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is not only essential for this course but is also used in everyday life. Critical thinking expands your imagination and allows you to come up with multiple solutions to deal with problems, in class, and in daily life. We were all given a brain that is mean to be used, so when we have a problem, we think about ways to solve that problem the best way possible.
-Katherine Chung
Critical thinking is what one uses to illuminate goals, scrutinize assumptions, evaluate evidence, and appraise conclusions. Critical thinking focuses on metacognition and expanding the extent and depth of one's thoughts in order to compose the best possible solution. It is necessary for this course because it helps broaden one's mind to view and think of an issue from every perspective. This in turn creates a plethora of new possibilities that exceed one's normal range of thought. Critical thinking also plays a vital role outside the classroom for it is what a person can use to formulate functional solutions to intricate personal problems.
ReplyDelete-Joona Kim
Critical thinking gets our inter thinking motor started because thats what CRITICAL THINKING does, you think outside the box, you ask yourself more questions, you want to know how does this affect you, why does this affect you? ... And infact when you critically think you dont only come up with one answer you actually brainstormed the problem which causes you to ask more questions.
ReplyDeleteWell any way I really think that critical thinking is important in Humanities because there is really no right or wrong answer on our opinion about CREATIVITY (since that is the main subject in our class) I believe the more people think, the more we understand the "WHY" of circumstances.
Critical thinking is digging deeper for under the surface solutions or answers. It is looking at things in different perspective and analyzing information. Critical thinking is important for this course because it is a critical thinking class which requires you to use creativity and critical thinking to tackle problems with solutions. Critical thinking in this course will help us in other courses because it demonstrates ways to solve problems and use our creativity which comes in handy for many college courses.
ReplyDelete-Jason Lagao
Critical thinking is use the brain to think of the solution for any problem by skillfully analyzing, assessing, and reconstructing it. It is not only require for this course that also for any course in college because it makes students will express their mind in different ways when they look at problems.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is a rich concept, it is also the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. It's rewuired for this course because we are studying about creativity, critical is also a useful way to optimize our creative mind. When you have critical thinking which could impacts ur thinking to be better.
