Welcome to The Creative Mind! This tends to be a fun class where people get to know each other. Start here by telling everyone who you are and what your ideas on creativity are. Are you a creative person? How? Do you engage with other creative people? How? Share a link, video, image or song with the class. You get the idea. You get the idea.
Again, Welcome!
I personally don't think I'm creative in the sense where I can create something and make it something where people will be madly in love every time; but I am a creative person. I create movements with my body to match certain basses, snares, and various beats to tell a story that goes along with a song's lyrics. In short, I dance. I interact with other creative dancers and I collaborate with them in making choreography. This piece, though its not as clean as I'd like it to be, is one I made with my friend Valeria. It was our first collab, and we both really like the final product. Enjoy!

Hey guys, I'm Paula Ng Lam. I just turned 20 years old, this is my second year at DeAnza and i'm majoring in MicroBiology!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like Kevin's Opinion because i don't consider myself as a genius as well, you know, i don't have that great mind to create something useful for the world to use, but i think that every single person have a little bit of creativity on them, because we are not similar to each other! i believe that culture has a big impact in our creativity because we tent to follow what others do/ to what's going on. But there's always a little piece on you that makes you unique. For instance, when i play my guitar or when i try to write a song or just a poetry. I try to give my friend advices on movements to our dance routine and stuff like that! So not only people like Leonardo Davinci or Einstain that made history because of their great minds, we might not be smarties like them, but we can create something small and make it special!
A picture of me helping my friends with our routine!

Hello, I'm Natsumi Nishi, and I have been at De Anza for a while and planning to major in animation.
ReplyDeleteI am an artist and I guess that I am creative in the sense that I enjoy creating things whether it be through art, sculpting, writing. I try not to limit the medium that I can express myself through. While I don't enjoy having people look or critique my work I still think it's essential to further my artistic abilities and push my creativity to the limit and beyond. I think that to be creative one does not need to be an artist and that they are creative because they are unique and work hard. Currently I'm trying to give music a shot and learning the guitar. Paper, pencil, instrument, etc. are all tools which I use to express my creativity and that creativity first starts within me.
Hey, I'm Rahul Krishna, and this is my second year at De Anza and I'm planning to major in Computer Engineering.
ReplyDeleteI have two passions: video games and guitar. Most of my free time is spent being lazy on the computer while fiddling around with my guitar. I did that all summer, and found myself with a couple extra pounds when school started. However, I have completely changed that around and I've been working out everyday for the past two weeks - I really hope I can keep this up.
Today in class I found out I was in group one, and I was pretty happy about that. I like to take care of my major projects earlier than later. It's too much of a hassle later on in then quarter.
I believe that being creative has a lot to do with just being smart. Thinking smart and acting smart can really set a basis for creativity.
For example, I woulda never came up with this:

Its a really creative performance, and its probably popular mainly for that reason.
Hey there my name is Stephanie Courter and I am 19 years old. This will be my second year at De Anza and will be majoring in Psychology.
ReplyDeleteI am creative in the sense that I can make things from small amounts of resources. I love to cook and love to just go into my kitchen and grab whatever I can find and that I feel would be great together and throw it together. Most of the time it turns out pretty delicious! I also love to draw and create scenes that I have never really seen but rather they are pieces of what I find beautiful and put it into one big picture.I do like to interact with creative people. It makes me feel good when others come up with these fantastic ideas that go along with what I was thinking. When the ideas mesh they create awesome things!People are just so creative when we sit down and create together.
Hello, my name is James Duncan and this is my second year at de anza. I like to think of myself as being a creative person. Every week I try to plan something new to do that I don't usually do. Nothing crazy like sky diving, mostly other minor forms of entertainment. For instance, if I need new shoes I will just go with a friend to San Francisco's Union Square as opposed to buying some online. I hate the thought of daily repetition. I never eat the same thing twice in one week. (Unless it is taco bell. I STAY eating that shit) And I constantly move from room to room in my house to do homework.

Hello everyone! My name is Matt Diaz. I'm in my second year at De Anza, looking to transfer. I'm a Film/TV major so I'm looking at schools with good film programs. I'd like to think of myself as a creative person, since I do my best to be creative in just about everything I do. Since I am a bboy, creativity is always a pivotal aspect of what I do when I go out there and dance.
ReplyDeleteBut there are various other outlets through which I express myself and my creativity as well, such as spoken word and through the film projects I do. Here's a link to my latest work, a trailer I made for a friend of mine who pops, which is another style of hip-hop dance:

Hello! My name is Mychal Huynh and this is my 3rd quarter at De Anza, so I'm relatively new. I got out of the Navy about 8 months ago doing computer networking/communications with Seal Team 3 based out of San Diego.
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't always the case, but I usually associate being creative with being artistic. Well, I suck at art. I'm a pretty avid gym goer, and I play tennis competitively for a league. I guess the most creative thing I do each day is figuring out what to wear in the morning. I mean, that takes some creativity doesn't it? I was also on the drumline in high school and at times we had to make our beats. I don't consider myself a genius where everything I say people respond with, "Wow, that is a good idea!" But I guess everything that spawns from my mind that is put into action can be considered creative.
Hello everyone! My name is Joli Ngo and this will be my second year at De Anza as a nursing major. Although I'm not sure if there is anything creative about me- I mean I doubt I can create something that the world would benefit from- I do believe everyone has a little bit of creativity in them, including myself. Ever since I started college I haven't really engaged myself in anything creative. All I really do now is study because I'm trying to transfer into a good nursing program as soon as possible. But, before when I did have the time, I used to engage myself in photography, which is where I believe I expressed my creativity best.

Enjoy!
Hey everyone, I'm Victoria. It's my second year at De Anza. I'm planning to major in interior design, and minor in business. :)
ReplyDeleteTo me, I personally think everyone has some sort of creativity in them, since it's all around us. Creativity comes a lot from things that we enjoy doing. It doesn't always have to be something extravagant; it can be simple, yet still creative. You don't have to design a house to be creative; you can make a simple food dish and add your own twist to it.
I think i'm a pretty creative person, because i like to express myself through dancing. I can listen to a catchy song & make up a unique dance routine for it, based on dance moves I already know, or that i've learned throughout classes in the past. I also use other dancers/performers' moves and incorporate them into the dance i'm making up. Another way i'm creative is through writing. I've always enjoyed writing, and sometimes I like to express myself through poetry.

(this is a video of my friends Ada & Peter, who made up this dance routine for our dance class, my senior year of high school. i love how creative & innovative it is.)

Hi everyone, my name is Katherine Chung, and this will be my third year at De Anza. I hope to major in Animation.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone has some sort of creativity, which I like to think it as exercising one’s imagination, the usage of originality and inventiveness, as well as the ability to understand how to use the resources available to you to its best potential.
As an aspiring artist, and have been thrown into many environments where creativity becomes “competition”, I believe myself to be fairly creative but still have have room to improve and grow.
Here is a fun commercial that I thought was very creative with the use of stop-motion, and in which had techniques I would never had thought of:

hey everyone, my name is Peter Lee and this is my second year at De Anza. I'm planning to major in Sociology and looking to transfer out to UC Davis next fall.
ReplyDeleteAs Katherine said above, I agree that everyone has their own sense of creativity. We all dress differently, study differently and live life differently. To me, thats what being creative means. It's to have your own thoughts and opinions and not always follow the trend.
As for me, i havent been "feeling" creative these couple of years because all i do is go to school, hang out with friends sleep and other stuff. anyways, here's a virtual barbershop that i thought was pretty cool.

Hey my name is Cody Elemen im 21 this is my second year at De Anza. My major is business administration. Normally when I hear the word creative I think of artistic or a musician. I am far from creative then. How I think im creative is I come up with some of the craziest outside the box ideas to make money. I work well with creative people and normally when I do some of the craziest things happen. Hes a clip of a show most of you guys know South Park I feel that they are some of the most creative people.

Hi everyone My name is Gillian Kpodjie and I am in my scond year at De Anza college.I am a pharmacy major. I do not think i am a creative person but i love music, dancing, and mathematics. I hope this class will help me to learn more about creativity and also understand how humans create.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up everyone. My name is Jason Lagao and I am in my second year at De Anza. I currently do not know what I would like to major in. To me creativity is simply taking an idea and approaching it in different ways. I'd like to think of myself as creative because I love to think outside the box like taco bell hah. I interact with creative minds everyday in all situations, whether it's sports or schoolwork, because everyone is creative in their own way.

ReplyDeleteHello everybody, my name is Jesus Venegas and this is my second year at De Anza. Im thinking of majoring in Electrical Engineering but im still not sure. I believe everyone on this earth is creative because if we think about everything we use had to be created by someone. Therefore i believe myself to be creative because creativity isnt measured on a scale even the simplest idea can be creaive. One way im creative is by playing music. I play the guitar and piano. I do interact with creative minds because i meet with them everyday.
ReplyDeleteOne piece that caught my attention is this guy that plays the drums to the super mario beat.

My name is E.J. Patoc and this is my third year at De Anza. I am leaning towards majoring in art/design, but i am still unsure. I think everyone is creative and it could be a good thing depending on how you use your creativity. I'd like to think I'm creative in my own way. I write lyrics and i am inspired by song writers and poets. I like communicating and sharing ideas with others who write lyrics as well, it just makes me that much better hearing feedback from my peers. One of my favorite lines/quotes...

Hello everyone My name is Leticia Moran and this is my second year at De Anza. Im currently taking all pre reqs to enroll in the RN program at De Anza. The medical field has always been interesting to me.The thought of helping and making a difference in someones life is pretty cool. Im not sure how Im creative but i guess we're all creative in one way or another. :)
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! My name is Roy Talactac and this is currently my second year at De Anza. I'm not sure what major i am going to take but i better find out soon. I don't want to be in school for longer than 6 years. This creative minds class seems interesting. i like how it makes me think more and allows me to open my mind up. I seriously don't consider myself to be very creative because creativity in my opinion takes leadership which i lack but, i get along well with those who are creative.
ReplyDeleteI am a year away from leaving De Anza. Erin is a really great prof and she dresses really well. :)
ReplyDeleteEh, I don't know if I'm a creative person. I would rather just critique others.
Sometimes I wish I was creative, but maybe when it comes to finding loopholes in the law. I wanna be a lawyer--that would be usefull.
Hi Im Kim Daug and Im currently in my second year at De Anza. I am a nursing majors so if anyone has that in common with me, hooray for you! I can safely consider myself a moderately creative person in terms of music. Like many of you all, I enjoy listening to music but with a different twist on my part. I like dissecting majority of the music I listen to and pick apart each instrument played. The sounds of instruments are just addicting to hear for me. With this love for music I have casually played with music through high school through casually rapping with friends or making beats on my spare time. Although Im no expert on either subject, I do enjoy it very much. And as far as this class itself, I enjoy it so much. Driving from Hayward everyday is a huge load on me, but I love the idea of my first class in the morning being something constructive as this Creative Minds class. Hopefully the rest of the quarter will be enjoyful as I hope it will be.
ReplyDeletehey people...how are you guys doing?? btw I am Nipuni Gurunnanselage Dona. This is my 4th quarter at DeAnza college. and I have a FDA degree in Business Management (Metropolitan University,UK). This creative mind class is one of my best and stressless classes. I think, everyone has some kind of a creative side. Different people view creativity differently. and depends on how we see it. So, I am a creative person. I love drawing, and cooking. Guys, seriously, I am not a great cook, but I know how to be creative when i am cooking. Life is like a glass of water. There is no shape, no color. You make the shape. You give the color. You create it the way you want it to be. you give the color for it. So, don't you think everyone has some sort of creativity side??
ReplyDeleteHello everyone! my name is Jeannette Arana and this is my second year here at DeAnza college. As of right now i don't know what i want to major in. Its hard for me to believe that everyone is creative because i wouldn't consider myself a creative person. Im someone who usually likes to keep things simple. im not the one in a group to think outside the box. But i hope this class will allow me to see how we are all creative in our own way.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Kyle Smith, I'm majoring in business management. Creativity isn't always done on purpose. Everyone is creative in some way, even if they don't realize it. For example, when people drive somewhere, they tend to do little things here and there to get to there destination faster, which takes creativity. For me, I try to be creative with my music. I've been making beats for many years. Everything I make is original(no samples or covers). I also really like art. I like to look at other peoples work to get a sense of another view of the world.

Hello! My name is Michelle Kim. This is my first year here at De Anza College. I graduated from Independence High School, class of 2010. I'm only part Korean and I'll be surprise if you can guess my other nationalities. I like to plan things ahead of time, but that doesn't mean I'm not spontaneous! My father owns a restaurant call Beque Korean Grill, located on El Camino. Feel free to check it out and ask for discounts from me. The more people know about our restaurant and recommend it, the better!
ReplyDeleteI am going to major in Business management and hope to open my own bakery someday! I love creating pastries and I guess you can say that's my "creative" calling. I also have other interests, but I'll let that up to you if you want to know more about me.
Find me on facebook if you wish. Take care!
Hi everybody,
ReplyDeleteI'm Linh Ngo. This is my first quarter in De Anza College
According to what I do everyday such as: drawing, writing story and decorating, I still consider myself as a creative person. Besides, I love planning and organizing any events. The most part of doing this is designing the decoration which could save you a lot of money.
To learn more about creativity, I do not only read books, research on website but also meet up with people. In my opinion, everybody gets their own creativity that I need to learn from.
Some of people who might be considered to influence in my life are: the author: Mac Levy, the surrealist painter: Tetsuya Ishida, the talented photographer: Bentfield

Hello
ReplyDeleteMy name's Mark Joseph Eroles, but most everyone just calls me Mark. I am 18 years old and this is my second year at De Anza College. To me creativity is usually thinking outside the box.
In my opinion, i think everyone has a bit of creativity in them. Although some people have much more potential in creativity then others. It could be writing music or doing some sort of art. The most common creativity that everyone does is choosing what to wear everyday. You have to be a bit more creative then just picking random clothes out of a closet. We always want to make sure we match.
